And the triggers constantly mimick the feedback you would get from the pedals in a real car. You feel every little bump in the road with the dual sense. After having played GT7 on the PS5 for the last couple of weeks I could not believe how little feedback I was getting from the DS4. I played some Driveclub VR yesterday with the DS4. Horizon's got the climbing/giant dinos to give you that scale GT7 just seems like it'll be a visually great looking game that could be akin to Flight Sim in terms of a great cockpit sort of VR experience and RE8 is a fun game in its own right and obviously has tons of great scale and immersion going for it- Lady D was made for VR, my god.Īnything that makes it feel more real absolutely helps. So that's a big reason why I'm looking forward to Horizon, GT7 and RE8. Same with something like flying around in Google Earth VR- just that sense of scale you get is worth the price of admission alone, I think. I'm a broken record with how great HL:Alyx is, but beyond it being fun to play, its just great for the sense of scale you get when walking up to a Combine soldier or realizing kind of how big a headcrab is when they're jumping at you. ![]() The presence/immersion/sense of scale you get in VR is kind of my favorite part. And climbing huge mountains and seeing huge robot dinosaurs in VR seems pretty fun to me especially with the scale. Like the immersion and sense of presence and scale you get in VR is almost as important as any gameplay loop. And reading reviews of Horizon, I feel like people discount how cool VR stuff can be just from a visual/immersion POV. The headset has enough new tech stuff going on compared to something like the Index to make it pretty interesting to me. Even having an Index, I figure this'll be worth it even if I just get a good time out of Horizon, GT7 and RE8. Pulled the trigger on the Horizon bundle yesterday, we'll see if I get it on the 22nd. Logi Driving Force GT is on the list of wheels supported by Drivehub :-) And it gives you the sharpest image and perfect latency controllerwise. Because it will just work, every single time. Some have them often.įor a console and where we are with the tech right now, wired makes a lot of sense. Your local wifi, your neighbor’s wifi, your cat’s cell-phone - everything is a possible source of interference which can cause issues. And then there is the whole thing with it being best case scenario. Some of it matters less on an individual basis. The above is something that is universal for every user of a wireless headset. ![]() Then there is the headset getting hotter due to the processing, which might mean you get less comfort and therefore need to stop before you want to. Then of course there is the battery life which might mean you need to stop playing before you want to. If you never tried wired you might not notice it but if you do the comparison you are never in doubt that wired is much more responsive. There will be a slight delay between the movements you do with your hands and what you see in the headset. Ontop of that, you get higher latency (input lag) by going wireless. It is like a very noticeable drop in resolution. Now for those of you who have not done such a comparison, that difference is quite big. In my experience, using Alyx as a test, going from wired to wireless is akin to the loss in definition you get on a 100” projection screen when going from a 1080p Bluray to a 1080p Netflix stream. While it’s true that doing an all-in-one-headset would mean a massive loss in fidelity because by then it would be it’s own console limited to a mobile chipset’s capabilities, you would loose no fidelity by having the PS5 stream games wirelessly to the headset.īecause it’s streaming, that means the video signal would be compressed. There is a bit of a misconception about the benefits of the cable. Some of the cars will be worth getting just to admire the dashboards in the cars. Each one is a new experience to drive, just like they would be in the real world.Ĭan’t wait to try it out with the added immersion of the headset. It makes it all the more enticing to unlock and buy new cars. Also, with the force feedback and resistance the wheel provides the difference in “feel” between the different cars is so much bigger. I need to relearn how to drive in the game and it is so much fun. But after running several races (in slow cars mind you!) I can definetely see an improvement. I was starting to get quite good with the Dual Sense in GT7 but this feels like starting over again. Wheel, pedals, menu navigation via the wheel stick. Stick on wheel did not work in the PS5 menus. Turned on the PS5 (button on console, important). Plugged a cheap wired PS4 controller into the Drivehub. I have a PS3 compatible Fanatec Forza Motorsport CSR Elite with CSR Elite pedals. You asked about my experience with Drivehub in an earlier post. ![]()
